Conditions for the Recognition and Payment of Sick Leave for Common Illness:

  • Be affiliated as a contributing member to the General System of Social Security in Health.

  • Have contributed for at least four (4) weeks immediately prior to the onset of the illness to the General System of Social Security in Health.

  • Have a certificate issued by the EPS doctor or validated entities at the time of the event causing the incapacity.

  • The doctor or dentist will issue the certificate for a maximum of thirty (30) days, which can be extended according to their judgment.

  • The Contribution Base Income reported in the month prior to the onset of the incapacity will be taken into account.

  • If a sick leave is issued during the contributor's vacation period, the vacation will be interrupted for the duration of the incapacity and will resume the day after the end of the incapacity.

  • There will be no recognition and payment of sick leave during the labor protection period.

  • When the affiliate is employed by two or more employers, the issued certificate will be valid for the worker to legalize their absence with each employer.
